    Fixes

    1. The EDA52 does not chargeBattery LED stays off on power

CauseThe power source delivers too little current, the battery is missing, or the device does not sit correctly in the base.

    Fix

    1. For USB-C charging, use a USB power supply that delivers at least 5 V and 0.5 A. A computer port or USB hub may not be enough.
    2. In a charging base, the battery must be fitted.
    3. Most EDA52 charging bases need the device without the rubber boot. Remove it and check that the device sits fully down on the contacts.
    4. Check that the base has power, and try another slot. Charge at −10 to 50 °C, ideally at 20–25 °C.
    5. Check Settings › Honeywell Settings › Battery LED. With No Battery LED selected, the LED stays off even while charging.
    2. Battery LED blinks redBattery error

CauseWith the factory LED setting, blinking red means a battery error, whether the device is on power or not.

    Fix

    1. Switch off, remove the battery, check that the contacts are clean and dry, and refit it.
    2. Install another charged Honeywell EDA52 battery, as Honeywell advises for a battery error.
    3. If the error follows the battery, replace that battery. If it stays with a second battery, contact us.
    3. The battery runs down quicklyLess than a shift on a full charge

CauseHoneywell specifies more than 12 hours of use, but screen brightness, mobile data and background apps shorten this, and batteries age.

    Fix

    1. Open Settings › Honeywell Settings › Battery Optimizer to see the battery status and health and which apps use the most power.
    2. Shorten the screen timeout under Settings › Display › Screen Timeout, or use Battery saver under Settings › Battery.
    3. Honeywell recommends replacing the battery about every two years or when its health falls below 70 %. For long shifts, keep a charged spare battery.
    4. Wi-Fi does not connectWrong password, keeps dropping, no internet

CauseThe password or security type does not match, or a certificate is missing on an enterprise network. The EDA52 has Wi-Fi 5 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac).

    Fix

    1. Open Settings › Network & internet › Internet (on Android 11 the entry may be called Wi-Fi), touch and hold the saved network and choose Forget, then connect again and re-enter the password carefully.
    2. For WPA2/WPA3-Enterprise, ask your IT team for the EAP method and install the CA certificate before you connect.
    3. Check that Airplane mode is off and the date and time are correct.
    4. Use the WiFi Diagnostic tool in Honeywell's Power Tools app to check the connection.
    5. The Scan button does nothingNo aiming beam, no beep

CauseEnable Scan Trigger is off in the scan profile, or a Scan button has been remapped.

    Fix

    1. Open Scan Demo (swipe up, then Demos › Scan Demo) and press a side Scan button, then touch Scan on the screen.
    2. If the on-screen Scan works but a side button does not, open Settings › Honeywell Settings › Keyremap and check whether that button has been given another job. Restore the default if so.
    3. If neither starts the imager, open Settings › Honeywell Settings › Scanning › Internal Scanner, open the profile in use, then Trigger Settings, and turn on Enable Scan Trigger. It controls both the side buttons and the on-screen button in Scan Demo.
    6. The barcode does not readAiming beam on, red Scan LED or nothing happens

CauseThe most common reason is that the barcode type is not enabled; not all types are on by default. The Scan Status LED shows red for a failed scan only when Bad Read Notification is turned on (off by default).

    Fix

    1. Enable the barcode type under Symbology Settings in the scan profile, see EDA52 scanner settings.
    2. Clean the imager window with a soft cloth dampened with water or a mild detergent solution, never with solvents or abrasive wipes, and check it for scratches.
    3. Hold the device at a slight angle to avoid reflections, and centre the aiming beam.
    4. Try a slightly different distance, and check the label for damage or faded print.
    7. Scans don't arrive in your appWorks in Scan Demo, but no data or no Enter

CauseThe cursor is not in a text field, the app expects Enter or Tab, or the app has its own scan profile.

    Fix

    1. Tap into the text field before you scan.
    2. In the profile the app uses, open Data Processing Settings and check that Wedge is enabled.
    3. If the app needs Enter after each scan, set Suffix to \n (or \r); for Tab use \t.
    4. Check under Settings › Honeywell Settings › Scanning › Internal Scanner whether the app has its own profile. An app profile overrides the Default profile.
    5. If your app uses Data Intent or the Honeywell SDK, ask the app supplier which settings it needs.
    8. The screen is frozenNo reaction to touch

CauseAn app or the system has stopped responding, or water or dirt is on the display.

    Fix

    1. If the Power menu still opens, press and hold Power and touch Restart.
    2. If the screen does not react, press and hold Power for about 8 seconds until the device restarts.
    3. Dry and clean the display. If the problem returns with one app, update or reinstall it.
    9. Reset the settings or the deviceConfiguration barcode ignored, problems remain

CauseAfter the first setup, Provisioning mode is off, which blocks configuration barcodes that install apps, certificates, files or licences. Other problems may need a reset.

    Fix

    1. To use a configuration barcode, turn on Settings › Honeywell Settings › Provisioning Mode, scan the barcode, then turn it off again.
    2. To reset only the scan settings, open the scan profile, touch the menu icon in the upper right corner and choose Restore all defaults.
    3. If the device still misbehaves, use one of the two deeper resets under Settings › System › Advanced › Reset options. Reset enterprise data erases internal shared storage but keeps the IPSM card storage; Erase all data (factory reset) erases both. Touch Erase all data, enter your screen lock if asked and confirm with Erase all data. Both erase personal data and system and app settings; an administrator may have blocked them. First ask your IT team, connect power and make sure the device has internet access. After a full factory reset, a device with a Google account needs that account's username and password. Details are in the EDA52 User Guide, listed on the Honeywell EDA52 product page.

To set the device up again after a reset, follow the EDA52 setup guide. All guides for this model are on the EDA52 guide page. If nothing helps, contact us with the serial number and a short description.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I restart a frozen Honeywell EDA52?

Press and hold the Power button for about 8 seconds until the device restarts.

What does a blinking red battery LED mean on the EDA52?

With the factory LED setting it means a battery error. Refit the battery and try another charged Honeywell battery; if the error stays, contact us.

How do I factory reset the EDA52?

Open Settings › System › Advanced › Reset options and choose Erase all data (factory reset), or Reset enterprise data to keep the IPSM card storage. Both erase data, so back up first and ask your IT team on managed devices.
