    Fixes

    1. Scanner shows no sign of lifeNo aiming dot, no beep

CauseThe 1470g gets no power over its cable. The 1472g battery is flat, or the scanner switched itself off after an hour without use.

    Fix

    1. 1470g: push the cable into the scanner handle until it clicks, check that the PC is on, and try another USB port.
    2. 1472g: pull the trigger. After power-saving shutdown it beeps and needs a few seconds to link again.
    3. 1472g still dark: charge it in the base.
    2. Scanner beeps, but no data arrivesGood-read beep, empty screen

CauseNo text field has focus, or the interface is not USB keyboard (for example USB Serial).

    Fix

    1. Click into Notepad and scan again. If the data appears there, check your software.
    2. Close configuration tools such as EZConfig.
    3. Scan Standard Product Defaults, then the USB keyboard interface code: USB PC Keyboard in the 1472g Quick Start Guide, USB Keyboard (PC) in the User Guide. On the 1472g, place the scanner in the base after the defaults scan and wait for the link before you scan the next code. Then set the keyboard country again.
    4. Try another cable and USB port.
    3. 1472g gives an error tone after scanningRazz and red LED, data not sent

CauseThe base did not confirm the data: the scanner is not linked, out of range, or the base has no power.

    Fix

    1. Walk back towards the base. In range, the scanner links again by itself with a single chirp. Rescan any bar code that did not arrive.
    2. Check that the red light on the base is on.
    3. Place the scanner in the base to link it, then test a scan: one beep and a green light mean it is linked.
    5. Wrong characters on screenY and Z swapped, letters instead of digits

CauseThe scanner assumes a US keyboard; the PC uses another layout. Inverted case comes from Caps Lock.

    Fix

    1. Scan the keyboard country that matches the Windows layout. Our keyboard country and suffix guide lists the setting for each of our markets.
    2. Case inverted: turn off Caps Lock, or set Keyboard Style to Caps Lock or Automatic Caps Lock.
    6. Enter missing or doubledCursor stays put, or skips a field or line

CauseNo suffix is set, or more than one is set. Honeywell's USB keyboard interface code adds both CR and LF.

    Fix

    1. Scan Remove Suffix.
    2. Scan Add CR Suffix for Enter, or Add Tab Suffix for Tab.
    7. 1472g does not chargeGreen base LED fast flashing or off

CauseA fast flash (300 ms on, 300 ms off) is a charging error. An unlit green light means no battery detected or charging suspended.

    Fix

    1. Seat the scanner fully in the base and keep it between 5 and 40 °C while charging.
    2. Make sure the base has power from the USB cable or a power supply.
    3. If the error stays, contact us. Use only the Honeywell BAT-SCN01 battery.
    8. Some bar codes do not readAiming dot on, no good-read beep

CauseThe bar code type is switched off, the scanner is a 1D model, or the print is damaged.

    Fix

    1. Check the model label: only the 1470g2D and 1472g2D read QR, Data Matrix and PDF417.
    2. Check the bar code type in the User Guide chapter "Symbologies" and enable it there.
    3. Tilt the scanner on glossy labels.
    4. For codes on phone screens, scan Hand Held Scanning - Mobile Phone (User Guide, "Mobile Phone Read Mode").
    9. Reset to defaultsSettings unknown or changed by mistake

CauseProgramming bar codes were scanned by accident.

    Fix

    1. Scan Standard Product Defaults from the Quick Start Guide to return to Honeywell's standard settings. If you saved custom defaults, Activate Custom Defaults in the User Guide returns to them.
    2. For a full factory reset, scan Remove Custom Defaults, then Activate Defaults from the User Guide.
    3. 1472g: the reset unlinks scanner and base. Place the scanner in the base and wait for the link.
    4. Set the keyboard country and Enter suffix again.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I factory reset a Honeywell Voyager 1470g?

Scan Remove Custom Defaults, then Activate Defaults from the User Guide, chapter "Utilities". This erases all settings, so set the keyboard country and suffix again afterwards.

Why does my Voyager 1472g razz after every scan?

It is not linked to its base or is out of range. Place it in the base and test a scan again.

What does the flashing green light on the 1472g base mean?

A slow flash means the battery is charging. A fast flash means a charging error.
