The Honeywell Voyager 1202g-bf is the battery-free version of the cordless Voyager 1202g Bluetooth® 1D laser scanner. Instead of a battery it uses a super-capacitor that fully charges in less than 20 seconds with a power supply (less than 70 seconds via USB) and powers at least 100 wireless scans – no battery to maintain, replace or dispose of, and a lighter scanner (160 g). It is ideal for occasional wireless scanning, for example as a complement to an in-counter (bioptic) scanner for bulky items left in the shopping cart. It reads poorly printed and damaged linear barcodes at 100 scan lines per second and lets you move up to 10 m from its base. Please note: it does not read 2D codes such as QR codes, nor barcodes shown on phone screens; for continuous cordless scanning choose a battery-powered Voyager 1202g. This version, 1202G-2USB-5BF, is the black USB kit: it is supplied with the battery-free scanner, the CCB00-BF charge and communication base and a 3 m USB cable.
📦 What's in the box – 1202G-2USB-5BF
- Honeywell Voyager 1202g-bf scanner – black, 1202G-2-BF
- ℹ️ No battery – built-in super-capacitor – fully charges in the base in less than 70 seconds via USB (less than 20 seconds with a power supply) and powers at least 100 scans per charge
- Charge and communication base (Bluetooth base) – Honeywell CCB00-010BT-01N-BF – the battery-free version's own base: charges the scanner and sends the scanned data to your PC or POS
- USB cable – straight, 3 m, Honeywell CBL-500-300-S00 – connects the base to your PC or POS and powers it
💡 No separate power supply is needed – the base is powered via the USB cable.
🔌 Optional: the Honeywell power supply PS-05-1000W-C (EU plug) lets the scanner fully charge in less than 20 seconds instead of less than 70 seconds via USB; a power supply is also usually required when the base is connected via RS232.
Key Features
- Battery-free technology – a super-capacitor replaces the battery: a full charge takes less than 20 seconds with a power supply (less than 70 seconds via USB) and powers at least 100 scans. No battery maintenance, no replacements, a lighter scanner and less waste.
- Aggressive 1D laser scanning – 100 scan lines per second and the proven Voyager laser engine read even poorly printed, damaged and smudged linear barcodes (EAN/UPC, Code 128, GS1-128, Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, GS1 DataBar and more) at the first attempt.
- Cordless Bluetooth® freedom – Bluetooth Class 2 (v2.1) radio with adaptive frequency hopping: move up to 10 m from the base in a typical work environment, up to 30 m with clear line of sight – and no cable to trip over.
- Plug and play – the base supports USB and RS232 and detects the interface automatically from the cable, so there is no need to scan programming barcodes.
- Paging function – press the button on the base and the scanner answers with beeps and flashing lights, so a misplaced scanner is quickly found.
- Built to last – the scanner withstands 30 drops from 1.5 m to concrete, scanner and base are IP42 sealed, and it comes with a 3-year Honeywell factory warranty.
- 1D only – please check your barcodes – the Voyager 1202g reads linear barcodes printed on labels, packaging and documents. It does not read QR codes, Data Matrix, PDF417 or other 2D codes, nor barcodes shown on phone screens; for those, choose the cordless Honeywell Voyager XP 1472g 2D scanner.
Ideal Applications
- Scanning bulky items in the shopping cart – as a complement to an in-counter (bioptic) scanner
- Retail checkouts and point of sale with printed EAN/UPC barcodes
- Hospitals, pharmacies and service counters – no cable to trip over
- Libraries, offices and document handling
