The Newland BS80 Piranha II is a pocket-size Bluetooth® barcode scanner: at just 88 × 46 × 24.5 mm and around 65 g it slips into a shirt pocket, yet it scans quickly from paper labels and screens alike. It pairs directly with Android, iOS and Windows devices via Bluetooth 4.0 (HID, SPP or BLE) – no base station needed – and its 1 MB memory stores thousands of codes offline in batch mode. Delete and Function buttons let you correct scans and recall the on-screen keyboard on iPhone and iPad. This version, NLS-BS8080-2D, has a 2D imager that reads 1D and 2D codes such as QR Code, Data Matrix and PDF417, and is supplied with a USB-C cable for charging – ready to pair and scan.
📦 What's in the box – NLS-BS8080-2D
- ✅ Newland BS80 Piranha II scanner – black, pocket-size cordless 2D imager (reads 1D and 2D codes), Bluetooth 4.0
- ✅ Rechargeable battery – Li-ion, 3.7 V, 900 mAh, built in – charge for 3–4 hours before first use
- ✅ USB-C cable – charges the scanner from a USB port on your PC, laptop or a USB charger; also works as a wired USB connection (keyboard or virtual COM mode) and for EasySet configuration
- ❌ Charging and communication cradle – not included – optional (NLS-CCC-BS80-01); not needed for Bluetooth scanning, as the scanner pairs directly with your device
- ❌ Power supply – not included – not needed, as the scanner charges from any USB port; a USB-C wall charger is available as an option
💡 How it connects: the BS80 pairs directly with your smartphone, tablet or PC via Bluetooth – as a keyboard (HID, no driver or app needed), a serial port (SPP) or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) device, with up to 50 m range in open space. Out of range, batch mode keeps your scans in memory for later upload via Bluetooth or the USB-C cable. On iPhone and iPad, the Function button shows or hides the on-screen keyboard while the scanner is connected.
💡 Want a tidy charging spot on the counter? Add the Newland NLS-CCC-BS80-01 charging and communication cradle – it charges the scanner via its pogo pins and connects to your PC over USB-C (no cable is supplied with the cradle; you can use the one included with the scanner). For several scanners, the Newland NLS-SCD80 2-slot charging cradle can be daisy-chained (up to 5 cradles, 10 scanners; separate power supply required). To charge from a wall socket, add the Newland ADP710 USB-C fast-charging power adapter.
